Monday - Day 17

While the morning went smooth, it was that kind of Monday where a person doesn’t seem to have time to breathe, let alone eat!

My smoothie today was simple:

2T SP Pro Complete, Califia coconut milk, 1/4 mango, small knob ginger and a peach.

For breakfast I steamed brussel sprouts and poached a piece of Lake Michigan lake trout. I cut it into 3 slices about 3oz each. Bill and I both had it with the sprouts. The other 3rd will be for the morning while Bill has eggs.

Lunch was a salad with tatsoi, some cucumber, orange cherry tomato, a tablespoon of chopped fresh dates and a 1/4 cup of pulled chicken I roasted yesterday. I tried something different and roasted it with Indian spices rubbed into it. Also had a cup of Halwa soup, which wasn’t originally supposed to be soup at all. Halwa Is an Indian dessert also known as carrot pudding. However it did not thicken as I did not use milk or sugar. Instead I used coconut milk, the drinking kind, and no sugar. It’s still tasted really good so I used my immersion tool and made soup out of it.

Supper was easy. Googled chicken and okra and found a recipe from Weight Watchers. I did change it a little bit but it’s still came out so good. They called for a quarter cup of red wine, which I did not use, and a couple other variations. In olive oil I sautéed the Cipollini onion, added chunks of red pepper, chicken stock (I’ve had bones in the slow cooker since this morning) and okra. I did not slice the okra as I didn’t want it to become slimy. Since the chicken was pre-cooked from the roasted chicken, and already seasoned, I put that in last and then served.

For dessert we enjoyed the Chia pudding that I made Saturday. Really simple. Califia coconut milk, unsweetened shredded coconut, pure vanilla extract and chia seeds. If it wasn’t for adding the shredded coconut it would’ve been pretty bland.

Four more days.

Standard Process Purification: The Takeaway

Saturday, September 4, 2021 Me this morning. Three weeks have passed since beginning the Standard Process Purification cleanse. Questions such as “How do I feel?”, “What do I notice?”, “Was it worth it?”, “Would I do it again?” and "Moving forward" are all questions to be reflected upon.  I don’t know about you, but many generations just lived, ate seasonally, and didn’t pay much attention to the catchall words that we have today such as “organic” and “sustainable eating.” They already were!!!! Farmers worked hard, still do. Today our society has changed and many of us are stuck behind desks and are on the run so much that the food we eat and unhealthy habits we have formed have been problematic to our overall health, posture, spinal health, obesity, amongst others. There is more disease than ever before in this country, much which has been our own doing, but even more so, the culture and environmental factors around us contribute to dis-ease and our unnecessary stressful liv...

Simple Graces

How soothing the touch of the warm summer breeze against my cheek. As if a gentle kiss were planted on me. Up high, a bird sings a melodic tune, And although my eyes do not find him, My ears are glorified with his song of praise. Such simple graces bestowed upon me. A family of geese files in formation As they leave the grotto in a symmetrical dance. I watched the bee, painted in yellow and black, Savoring the nectar of a wildflower. So busy. So purposeful. Just simples graces. Then, I meet you in your splendor. Your delicate innocence surrounds you As you stop at the edge of the meadow Where the grasses meet the wood. Your nose quivers some as you try to determine your safety. You are aware you are not alone. I see your ears perk and your eyes gaze through the foliage. Then you proceed --- Oh! How gracefully you walk forward. As delicate as a flower, sweet grace. Yes, my sweet doe; That is what I will name you, For that is what you are. As you stop and l...

Wednesday- Day 19

A new day, a new month! September 1st. I really like the ring of that! 🍂 While I had a really good night sleep (only up once to use bathroom which is common and I typically always fall right back to sleep), I was glad I fell asleep shortly after getting into bed. One of the areas I noted was that this Purification has not helped in the sleep department. Since we don’t get home until after 5:30 (the work days are long) we don’t sit down to supper until at least 6:30. Then we need to wait at least 2 hours to go to bed which 9 pm works for us, especially when the goal is to be up by 4:30. Although I would like to be up by 4:15. However since Sunday night I’ve had to take melatonin as I just get into bed and then become awake and lie there. Just warmed not hot fresh milk sprinkle with nutmeg does the trick. I caved last night I have milk at. 8 o’clock no problem falling asleep as I typically do before yes. Well back to meals for the day! It was a whirlwind of a day too. Smoothie: 2T SP Pr...
